About:
Afghan Solidarity Committee
The Afghan Solidarity Committee (ASC) traces its roots back to a small group of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in New Delhi who came together with a shared vision of providing support and advocacy for their community. Founded in 2008, the ASC began its journey under the leadership of Dr. Nabi, who served as the head of the council until 2010. Following Dr. Nabi's tenure, the leadership mantle was passed on to individuals dedicated to the cause, including Sharif Amiri and Taher Khedri, each contributing their efforts to the committee's mission. In 2010, Mohammad Dawud Sharifi assumed leadership, guiding the ASC with dedication and commitment until January 13, 2018. Following his tenure, Mr. Ahmad Zia Ghani took on the role of leading the committee until November 5, 2023. Since then, Mr. Mohammad Qais Malikzada has assumed the position of chief, carrying forward the legacy and mission of the Afghan Solidarity Committee.
Our mission
Established in 2017 by a group of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in New Delhi, the Afghan Solidarity Committee (ASC) was founded with the vision of providing essential support and advocacy for Afghan individuals seeking refuge and asylum. Under the leadership of Ahmad Zia Ghani until 2023, the committee served as a crucial liaison between Afghan refugees, asylum seekers, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the Indian government. In 2023, Mr. Mohammad Qais Malikzada assumed leadership, carrying forward the mission of solidarity and assistance for the Afghan community in India.
Our vision
Our vision is a world where every Afghan asylum seeker and refugee receives the protection, assistance, and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience. We envision a future where displacement is temporary, and individuals have access to education, healthcare, employment, and social integration. Through collaboration, empathy, and sustainable solutions, we strive to create a brighter and more inclusive world for all displaced Afghan communities.
